A DC fan is a rotating machine that converts DC electrical energy into mechanical energy. It consists of three parts: stator, rotor and commutator. Do you know how a DC fan works? The following DC fan manufacturers will introduce you:
The working principle of the DC fan is simply based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The magnetic field produces a force on the current passing through it. The magnitude of the force satisfies Lenz's law. The operating mechanism of the DC fan is that when multiple sets of coils (stators) are energized , which produces a reaction force on the ring magnet (rotor) around it, and the DC fan rotates the fan blades fixed outside the ring magnet.
Due to one rotation, the direction of the current in the coil needs to be switched to adapt to the change in the polarity of the magnetic field caused by the rotation. Therefore, the direction change of the current and the polarity change of the voltage applied to the coil are detected by the control driver IC according to a Hall sensor. The direction of the magnetic field is adjusted accordingly, and each time an N-pole magnetic field is detected, the driver IC applies voltages in different directions to each group of coils respectively. And ensure that the overall force direction is constant in the clockwise direction (or counterclockwise direction).
The advantage of controlling the driving IC to replace the traditional brushed mode to switch the current polarity is that the DC fan can be designed with a compact structure, which enhances the reliability of electrical contact and eliminates the electrical noise when the polarity of the traditional brushed motor is switched.
